The Prince George RCMP is welcoming Insp. Shaun Wright as the new officer in charge of the detachment.

Wright was promoted to the rank of superintendent after the previous officer in charge, Supt. Warren Brown, was transferred to the North District RCMP. Brown is the current acting district commander for northern B.C.

Wright has been the operations officer at Prince George detachment since late 2016. He has 23 years of service with the force, with the majority of time spent in the Lower Mainland.

His first post with the RCMP was in Surrey, where he gained experience in various units within the detachment, including in frontline policing, alongside the gang enforcement team and in the general investigations section.

He was then posted to the Mission detachment as the operations support non-commissioned officer and then to B.C. RCMP Headquarters (E Division) in the professional responsibility unit, before his transfer to Prince George.

"The last couple of years working in Prince George has been very rewarding," Wright says in a news release.

"I am proud of the excellent work that is presently being done by the men and women who work at the Prince George city detachment and look forward to further improving public safety and making Prince George an even greater community to live in."

Wright and his wife are well settled in Prince George and are looking forward to continuing to build their lives in this community, notes the release.
