Construction professionals from across the province will gather in Prince George for two days this week for the annual Build the North Conference.
Themed What’s In Your Toolkit, this year’s event will feature a range of presentations, panel discussions and breakout sessions focused on strengthening the construction industry through knowledge-sharing, organizers state.
Key topics will include the latest economic trends, legal considerations in construction and strategies to help businesses remain competitive in a fast-evolving market.
There will also be a trade show running during the conference.
The event is expected to draw more than 400 professionals and companies.
The conference will kick off on Wednesday, April 9 at 1 p.m., with an opening session, followed by a presentation on avoiding common pitfalls in requests for proposals (RFPs) by Katy Fairley, industry practices consultant with the British Columbia Construction Association.
The day will continue with an opening keynote from Tim Coldwell, president and CEO of Énska Advisors, before wrapping up with a Networking Reception and the awards gala dinner.
Thursday, April 10 begins with a breakfast followed by a session on CCA economic insights from Rodrigue Gilbert, president of the Canadian Construction Association.
Attendees can then take part in breakout sessions focused on industry trends before hearing updates from Chris Aitchson, president of the British Columbia Construction Association.
The conference will close with a session on the political landscapes impacting the construction industry, led by Sajjid Lakhani, director of government relations and strategy at Impact Public Affairs, and a closing keynote from Ross Pambrun, CEO of The Memphis Group.
