The kids schooled the adults on the ball diamond this past weekend.
The Prince George Surg Med Knights, consisting of midget league level baseball players under the age of 18, continued off last season’s success by winning the local Senior Men’s Baseball League’s season-opening tournament at Citizen Field, known as the Bud Light Classic.
The Knights jousted to a 4-2 double-up against the Queensway Auto World Red Sox in Saturday night’s (May 11) championship game.
The five-team tournament serves as an icebreaker ahead of the PGSBL’s 2019 season.
Eight games consisting of five innings each were played throughout the two-day event in a double-elimination setting.
The Midget Knights are the reigning back-to-back Baseball B.C. Under-18 ‘AA’ Champions (2017, 2018) and the defending Western Canadian champions
PGSBL Opening Day is set for Wednesday, May 22 at Citizen Field, which will be a re-match between the Knights and Red Sox at 7 p.m.
