Mounties in Prince George are investigating after a report of a sexual assault last month.
Cpl. Craig Douglass says police began an investigation on Feb. 24 into a reported sexual assault that happened just before midnight on Feb. 21.
Douglass says a woman was walking her dog in the area of 11 Avenue and Winnipeg Street when she was attacked from behind by an unknown suspect.
The man sexually assaulted her and fled in a vehicle.
Police say all efforts to identify the suspect have been unsuccessful, who is described as:
- Caucasian male
- Roughly 6'0" to 6'5"
- 200 pounds
- Broad shoulders and muscular upper body
- Skull tattoo on the back of right hand
- Wearing a tight fitted black hooded sweatshirt, jeans and heavy work boots
The vehicle is described as:
- Black or dark coloured four-door sedan
- Roof rack with bike attachments
- LED headlights
- White or silver rims
- Dual exhaust
- Alberta licence plate
Douglass says there are no indications that the victim and attacker were known to each other.
Anyone with exterior cameras in the area of 11 Avenue and Winnipeg Street or anyone that may have witnessed something during this time is asked to contact Prince George RCMP investigators at 250-561-3300.
Police are also reminding the public to take extra precautions when out at night including:
- Be aware of your surroundings
- Avoid going out alone
- Advise others where you are going and when you will return
- Report all suspicious persons and incidents immediately to police
