The B.C. Prosecution Service (BCPS) will not lay charges against a Prince George RCMP officer involved in an arrest on Sept. 8, 2015.

The BCPS says during the pursuit of a suspect, the officer involved deployed a service dog, in which the suspect suffered serious injuries during the arrest.

In a release, the Prosecution Service says the case was also looked into by the Independent Investigation Office of B.C. (IIO), which submitted the report to Crown Counsel to decide on whether charges would be laid.

Once an investigation is done by the Chief Civilian Director of the IIO where it is determined if an officer(s) has committed an offence, the IIO will submit a report to the B.C. Prosecution Service.

"In this case, the BCPS has concluded that the available evidence does not meet the charge assessment standard for approval of any charges against the police officer in connection with the incident," a release by the service says.
