Police have located and seized a vehicle they believe to be involved with a fatal hit-and-run that killed one person and injured another.
Prince George RCMP say that within a few hours of appealing to the public to locate the vehicle involved in the collision, frontline officers were provided with information leading them to locate and seize a vehicle.
Mounties say both a forensic and a mechanical examination will now be conducted on the vehicle.
On Saturday, May 11 a frontline Prince George RCMP officer on patrol on Victoria Street between 15 and 17 Avenue, came across what looked like a collision.
The officer found two men suffering from injuries, a severely damaged electric-powered wheelchair and a bike.
The two men were taken to hospital for treatment.
At the time, current indications were that the man in the wheelchair and the man on the bicycle were hit by a vehicle heading northbound that did not stop.
The 48-year-old in the wheelchair has since died from his injuries; the 56-year-old bicyclist remains in hospital but is expected to recover.
Mounties believed the suspect to be driving a dark coloured 2012 or 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee with major damage to the passenger side.
Shortly after the incident, the police urged anyone with information or anyone who spotted the vehicle to come forward and contact them immediately.
Now that a vehicle has been found and seized, Prince George RCMP say they will be providing further details as the investigation progresses.
