Prince George sees strong September for building permit numbers

The city’s monthly building permit report shows that the city issued 38 building permits worth a combined total of $36.4 million in September of this year.

Prince George building permit numbers are climbing back up after a slow summer.

The city’s monthly building permit report shows that the city issued 38 building permits worth a combined total of $36.4 million in September of this year.

In the same month in 2022, the city issued 44 permits worth a combined $12.5 million.

Four permits for new commercial buildings were issued worth a combined $26.6 million.

Nine permits were issued for new single-family dwellings worth a combined $6.3 million, while one permit was issued new multi-family dwelling worth $1.4 million.

Despite the strong September, Prince George is still on a slower pace for 2023 compared to previous years.

As of the end of September, the city has issued 307 building permits, worth a combined total of $127.4 million. By the end of September of last year, the city had issued 380 permits worth a total of $199.9 million.

Prince George has seen a drop in permits for new industrial buildings, new commercial buildings, and new single family dwellings.
