A lot happens in a year, and it's natural to forget what you need to know when it snows. Or perhaps maybe you're new to Prince George?
Either way, we'll give you a refresher.
The City of Prince George has certain requirements and procedures they follow when a "snow event" occurs.
A snow event is defined as happening on specific snow-clearing priority routes if a snowfall over a 24-hour period exceeds certain limits that are set out by the City of Prince George.

The snow fleet will mobilise in these instances together with contracted equipment providers to meet the service standards that are stated in the Snow and Ice Control Procedure and the Snow and Ice Control Route Bylaw.
There are three snow clearing priorities as follows:
PRIORITY ONE ROUTES (RED)
Priority one (red) routes are cleared in 48 hours if 75 mm (7.5 cm) of snow (or more) falls in 24 hours.
Routes included:
- Main arterial roads
- Downtown Central Business District. This includes the area bordered by 1st and 15th Avenues and Vancouver and Queensway Streets
- Priority hills
- The Hospital District:
- Alward Street from 15th Avenue to 10th Avenue
- 10th Avenue from Alward Street to Laurier Crescent
- Laurier Crescent from 10th Avenue to Lethbridge Street
- Lethbridge Street from Laurier Crescent to 13th Avenue
- 13th Avenue from Lethbridge Street to Winnipeg Street
- Civic facility entrances, priority parking lots, and pathways
PRIORITY TWO ROUTES (GREEN)
Priority two (green) routes are cleared in 48 hours if 75 mm (7.5 cm) of snow (or more) falls in 24 hours
Routes included:
- All bus routes that are not main arterial roads
- All commercial and industrial roads
PRIORITY THREE ROUTES (GREY)
Priority three routes (grey) are cleared in 72 hours after priority one and priority two routes have been cleared if 120 mm (12 cm) of snow (or more) falls in 24 hours.

- All remaining civic facilities parking lots
- Select park facilities, parking lots, trails, and pathways
The City of Prince George also has all routes mapped on their website.
There are also parking restrictions in the city from Oct. 15 to Apr. 15 each year to help with snow and ice control operations:
- On-street parking is prohibited from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Priority One roads and hills, the Hospital District, and a number of other designated roads
- On-street parking is prohibited from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m. downtown
- On-street parking is prohibited from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in residential areas. Parking on the side of the street with odd house numbers is permitted from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. unless otherwise posted
- Illegally parked vehicles are subject to a $50 ticket per offence and/or may be towed
This can also result in a street being plowed poorly, which means the city will return once they have time to do so.
