This latest recruit for the Prince George Spruce Kings could be lighting up a storm next season.
Quintin Loon-Stewardson was acquired yesterday (June 4) from the Battlefords North Stars of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), who took charge of the team’s scoring race last year with 30 goals.
That stat also ranked him fifth in the league in 2019-20.
The 20-year-old forward also added 25 assists for 55 points in 53 regular-season games, along with 168 penalty minutes.
Loon-Stewardson, originally from Sioux Lookout, Ont., came onto the offensive scene a year earlier as a rookie with the North Stars.
He potted 19 points in 16 playoff games, including a team-high 10 goals, en route to claiming the 2019 SJHL championship.
The Windsor Spitfires also picked Loon-Stewardson in the third round of the 2017 OHL Priority Selection Draft.
The Spruce Kings are sending future considerations to Battlefords as part of Thursday’s trade.
