Music and entertainment will collide for a brand new festival in Prince George this summer.

On Tuesday (May 21), the City, the Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society (IMSS), and the Prince George Folkfest Society announced a new concert series known as ‘Heatwave - Celebrate Cultures.’

The event entails what the name implies … to showcase multiculturalism in B.C.’s northern capital while also promoting diverse understanding, social connectedness, and community pride.

In that spirit, Heatwave takes place over a three-day span, June 21 to 23, and will connect National Indigenous Peoples Day, IMSS’ Day of Cultures, and Saint-Jean Baptiste Day.

The concerts will be in the evening on each of those nights, with entertainment being provided by the Prince George Folkfest Society, who also help organize the annual Coldnsap Festival.

Music will be free for the public at Canada Games Plaza, while daytime events will be held at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.
