Sweat was shed for a good cause this weekend, as the Prince George Family YMCA held its annual Megathon fundraiser.
Teams descended upon the YMCA this Saturday (March 9) to sweat it out in Zumba, yoga, cardio box, cycling and more all the while raising money to send kids to camp.
The effort this year was so intense that the YMCA quickly surpassed its $10,000 fundraising goal and raised over $12,000 — that’s roughly the equivalent of sending 55 local kids to summer camp.
Funds raised from the event go to support the YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign which subsidizes programs for kids who could not otherwise afford them.
This weekend’s Megathon event in support of the Strong Kids Campaign contributes towards the YMCA’s annual fundraising goal of $60,000 by Aug. 31.
