Under the current health restrictions and as COVID-19 cases continue to rise throughout the province, the annual Prince George Christmas Wish Breakfast has shifted gears once again.

The event, which typically sees the community come together for a hot breakfast and toy drive, will still bring joy to local kids, but in a new format.

The meal offerings and 'Santa Cruise' are not proceeding, as previously adjusted.

Now, as organizers are still wanting to help those who are less fortunate, all new and unwrapped toys can be dropped at three different locations on three different days, which means it is more accessible for people to provide their gifts.

While the society and their campaign partners are disappointed to not offer a meal or an experience with Santa, they will have more locations and times for people to be able to contribute to the initiative.

The locations are as follows:

  • Hart Centre Mall – Dec. 5 between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Canadian Tire (near the front doors) – Dec. 6 between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • CN Centre (near the front doors) – Dec. 8 between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m.

People are asked to simply park in the parking lot of one of the listed locations, find the PG Christmas Wish Breakfast banner, and then drop off your gifts with the new no-contact method.

Those who wish to participate can bring an unwrapped gift, gift card or cash donation to any of the above locations.

The PG Christmas Wish Society says this year, more than ever, the need to come together is important in order to bring the joy of Christmas to every child in our community.

“Come as you are or take it to the next level by dressing up in Santa hats and ugly sweaters! We can help those in need while having fun and enjoying the holiday season,” says the society.

In the last two years, the PG Christmas Wish Breakfast has collected more than 3,000 new and unwrapped gifts to give to kids who may not otherwise receive any at Christmas.

All proceeds raised will go to the St. Vincent de Paul Society and various non-profit organizations through the United Way of Northern B.C. (UWNBC).
