Purchase a hot or iced coffee from any Tim Hortons store today (Aug. 12) and your money will go directly to helping underprivileged youth experience the joy of camp.

It's Tim Hortons annual Camp Day – a day when the restaurant and it's 1,500 owners donate 100 per cent of the sales price of hot and iced coffees to Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.

The 40-year-old tradition is honoured throughout the entire nation, and has helped nearly 300,000 youth aged 12 to 16 years old since it started in 1991.

Attending a Tim Hortons Foundation Camp comes at no cost to youth or their families.

The Foundation has seven camps across North America funded by Camp Day, but given the restrictions on social gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no in-person camp experiences this year.

That's why they've adapted to an all-new digital camp experience, appropriately named Tims eCamp.

The eight-week eCamp started at the beginning of July, and has grouped participating campers into eCabins, supported by trained eCounsellors to build social, emotional and development skills.

In 2019, Camp Day raised more than $12.3 million.

There are 11 Tim Hortons locations in Prince George where you can make a donation to the Camp Day cause.

Here's how you can participate:

  • Place an order for hot or iced coffee at a Tim Hortons restaurant, or for delivery
  • Donate $2 in restaurant or on the mobile app and receive a Camp Day bracelet in one of four vibrant colours with an inspirational message based on the Foundation’s values: Empower, Dream, Believe, Inspire
  • Round up your order in restaurant with the balance of the dollar going towards the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps
  • Make a one-time or monthly donation any time at www.timscamps.com
  • Help raise awareness and raise funds for Camp Day by joining the #CampInForCampDay social media challenge at www.campinforcampday.com
