Ring the victory bell!

The Prince George Ringette Association (PGRA) scored the top of the podium in two different categories while hosting the 2019 B.C. Ringette ‘A’ and ‘B’ Provincial Championships this weekend.

This included gold for the Division ‘A’ 18-plus team, who tripled Kelowna 6-2 in the final on Sunday (March 10).

The Prince George Rush lost to Kelowna in round-robin play, forcing them to finish second in the five-team division with a record of 3-1.

  • 9-1 over Richmond
  • 4-3 loss to Kelowna
  • 7-1 over Quesnel
  • 6-5 over Surrey-White Rock

The Rush easily won the semi-final 9-2 over Surrey-White Rock to reach the gold medal match.

There were three other Prince George teams competing at provincials this year, with two of them reaching the podium as well.

The Under-16 ‘B’ team went undefeated (5-0) in their respective tournament en route to the gold medal.

They won the championship game over northern B.C. league-rival Houston by a score of 4-2.

Meanwhile, Prince George’s Under-14 ‘B’ squad (Team White) persevered to the finals of their division, but fell 5-2 to Terrace and settled for the silver.

They finished 3-1 in the round-robin.

From the seven divisional gold medal games, the Thompson-Okanagan League went home with four of them; won by Kelowna’s Under-19 ‘A’ and Under-16 ‘A’ teams, Westside’s Under-19 ‘B’ team, and the Greater Vernon Ringette Association’s Under-14 ‘A’ team.

All associations participating in provincials brought co-ed teams to the northern capital.
