An unexpected seizure of a loaded sawed-off shotgun and ammunition and arrest of two men was made about 3 p.m. Thursday by the RCMP Task Force Drug Section in Prince George while they were investigating the homicide that occurred Wednesday on Hemlock Street.

Cst. Dan Schenkeveld said when he and another police member noticed a pickup truck was missing its front licence plate, they stopped it for a vehicle check, and discovered it had been stolen.

As police approached, the truck was backed into the parking lot at the Child Development Centre on Strathcona Avenue, the occupants immediately got out, but left the engine running and doors open.

"We suspected they might flee," Schenkeveld said. Read more in The Citizen.
