The Prince George RCMP Victim Services Unit has a new set of wheels.
Beginning with a $50,000 donation from the Prince George Community Foundation, contributions from a handful of sources made purchase and outfitting of the SUV possible.
"The work that Victim Services does in our community is invaluable. At a time when one is most vulnerable, Victim Service volunteers are there to help pick up the pieces," PGCF President Catherine Pennington said in a statement.
"We are incredibly grateful for the work they do in the Prince George community and are thrilled that we were able to provide this grant to them."
Wood Wheaton GM Supercentre helped pick out the vehicle and Sign Tek provided the decaling.
The SUV will be put to use in a variety of ways and replaces one that was 16 years old.
"Not only do they use it to respond to requests for service at any time of the day or night, but the unit uses their vehicle as a mobile office, providing shelter and transportation for victims, witnesses and families when needed," Prince George RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said.
"It is a very valuable and necessary part of their daily operations within the unit."
