Reminder: Power outages planned for Friday and overnight Sunday-Monday

BC Hydro is turning off the juice to more than 15,000 homes for necessary system work

A series of power outages are scheduled for Prince George and surrounding areas in the coming days as planned maintenance and pole replacements take place.

An overnight outage is set to affect several streets in Prince George, as well as communities including Beaverly, Hoferkamp, Miworth, Ness Lake and Willow River.

The most impactful will be the two outages that will affect 12,955 and 2,265 homes respectively from 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 30 and last until 5 a.m. on Monday, March 31.

There have been adjustments to the outages since they were first announced.

"Customers who will no longer be impacted by this planned outage have already received cancellation notifications including automated telephone calls and postcards," BC Hydro states in a press release. "BC Hydro is now issuing a second round of notifications to all customers who will still be affected by this upcoming work on Sunday evening."

This outage is part of planned work for equipment maintenance and pole replacement.

Additionally, other outages are scheduled outages in Prince George:

  • Friday, March 28, 9:30 a.m. to noon — Power will be out for specific addresses on Avril Road, Cranbrook Hill Road, Crest Road, Glendare PL, Hildebrandt Road, Kluss Road, Kueng Road, Melmack Crescent, Mill Road, Peardon Road, Ridge Dr, Roughton Road, Swanson Road, Westcrest Drive, Westridge Road, Westview Road, and Willmann Road due to equipment maintenance.
  • Friday, March 28, 9 a.m. to noon — Affected areas include Buckhorn Place, Buckhorn Lake Road, Doyle Road, Klein Road, Lawrence Road, Marilyn Road, Scott Road, St. Marys Lake, Willow Cale Forest Road, Willowcale Road, and nearby roads due to equipment work.

An additional outage is scheduled for April 8, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., which will impact specific addresses on Francois Crescent and Jarvis Street.
