The Big Guy Lake Kings continue to show off the skills local fastball players have to offer against the rest of B.C.
The Prince George club competed in Ashcroft this past weekend of the adjusted 2020 season due to COVID-19.
Despite valiant performances in the two-day event, the Kings settled for silver after falling 4-3 in the final on Sunday (Aug. 9) to the Westbank Cardinals.
As the template was double-knockout, the two teams also faced each other in the semi-final hours before the championship with Derian Potskin getting the 4-2 victory on the mound.
Norm Linton stood out for the black and orange from the weekend, going 1-1 in pitching and adding two home runs under his belt.
Overall, the Kings completed a record of 3-1 in Ashcroft, weeks after taking home the title from the Andre’s COVID Cup tournament in Kelowna going 5-1.
Results are as follows:
- 4-3 loss to Westbank Cardinals (Final)
- 4-2 win over Westbank Cardinals (Semi-final)
- 7-6 win over Interior Heat
- 14-4 win over Vernon Raiders
Members of the Big Guy Lake Kings will return to action in Prince George this week for more games within the Spruce City Men’s Fastball League (SCMFL).
An inter-league tournament is also scheduled Aug. 14 to 16 for the five teams involved.
