According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), an average of four Canadians are killed and 175 are injured every day from impairment-related crashes.
The Prince George RCMP is continuing to show its dedication to a safer community by recognizing the officers who go above and beyond to crack down on these incidents and reducing the number of drivers impaired by drugs and alcohol on local roads and highways.
Today (Dec. 1), the detachment has awarded seven members to Alexa’s Team for the 2019 calendar year (in alphabetical order):

- Cst. Arthur Dalman
- Cst. David Hallmark
- Cst. Mark Macapinlac
- Cst. Keith McCreadie
- Cst. Adrian Swann
It’s touted as a prestigious honour for Mounties as each one of them took a minimum of 12 impaired drivers off the road through a Criminal Charge investigation or the Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) administrative process, in addition to issuing Administrative Driving Prohibitions, IRP Fails, and IRP Refusals.
“These officers are to be commended for their dedication and commitment ensuring our roadways are safe for everyone,” said Prince George RCMP Operations Officer Insp. Lori Orstad in a release.
“Keeping road users safe is a priority for the Detachment and our officers. Their efforts are very much appreciated.”
Alexa’s Team was created in honour of Alexa Middelaer, who was 4.5 years old when she was killed by an impaired driver in 2008 when she was feeding horses with her aunt on the side of the road.
