Highway 97 motorists take heed.
A wintery frontal system is bringing the first significant snowfall of the season to the Pine Pass region east of Mackenzie, with 15 to 20 centimetres expected by the time clouds dissipate in the overnight hours Thursday morning.
Environment Canada is warning drivers that highway travel will be difficult in some stretches and they should be prepared for sudden changes in weather conditions especially when driving through mountainous areas.
- Be ready for slippery roads and slow down.

The Prince George forecast won’t be quite so winter-like.
After few rain showers overnight, on Thursday you can expect a high of 5 C under a mix of sun and cloud, dipping to -6 C as the skies clear at night. The high Friday will be near the freezing point and snow is expected in the evening.
More snow or rain is forecast for Saturday, with a high of 3 C and a low of -2 C.
It will get considerably cooler the following two days with lows ranging from -7 C to -9 C under mostly clear conditions. Monday’s high is predicted to hit 3 C, with Tuesday’s high only reaching -2 C.
