You might want to make sure your drive to your destination won't be unpleasantly interrupted due to traffic disruptions in the city.
There are a few routes you'll want to be aware of for the next few days and months:
- Hopkins Road (2800 and 2900 block) between Underhill Road and Ospika Boulevard will be single lane traffic, Monday, Nov. 19 from 8 a.m .to 5 p.m. for line work. (Emergency vehicles will have access.)
- Scotia Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue will be single-lane traffic, Tuesday, Nov. 20 until Wednesday, Nov. 21 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day for line work. (Emergency vehicles will have access.)
- Buckingham Road access from Highway 16 between the intersection of Buckingham Road and Highway 16 West will be closed from Wednesday, Aug. 8 until further notice. Access to Buckingham Road will be via Sykes Road — Purdue Road West (currently still not completed).
- The area of Seventh Avenue in front of the cenotaph will be closed to traffic from July 9 to fall of 2018. Pedestrian access will be maintained (still not completed).
- Through the summer, parts of Seventh Avenue in front of city hall will be fully closed, at times including both the intersection of Seventh and Dominion and the intersection at Sixth Avenue and George Street. Access to city hall will continue to be from Patricia Boulevard. Businesses and offices in the area will be accessible from other routes, such as from Fifth Avenue and George Street or from Sixth Avenue to Dominion Street (still not completed).
"The work is being conducted to enhance water, sanitary sewer, stormwater, and district energy infrastructure in the area, partly to provide connections to the new parkade and condo project and partly to upgrade aging infrastructure," the city says in a press release.
