The popular speaking series TEDx is coming back to Prince George this year.
TEDxUNBC will be held on Oct. 5, 2019, for the second time in three years, with this year's theme as "Past the Future."
“This year’s conference is centered on the idea that is mixed with both dreams and dread: the future,” TEDxUNBC co-organizer Kirk Walker says in a media release. “Humans are not the only species to think in terms of the future. But, we are obsessed with it, from the realities of climate change to the still fanciful flying cars.”
A call for speakers has now been opened until June 6 for those interested in possibly speaking at the event.
You are asked to submit your name and three-minute video explaining why you believe you have a talk that examines the future of the world and why you should tell it.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to participate in the second phase which consists of auditions in front of the TEDxUNBC speaker selection committee. All auditions will be recorded.
Successful applicants will then be informed shortly after all auditions have finished.
“The TEDx platform is a great avenue to disseminate thought and knowledge from within the University community and beyond,” UNBC President Dr. Daniel Weeks adds. “TEDxUNBC is an outstanding opportunity to get the northern region involved to highlight individuals with specializations and innovations outside the academic setting.”
TEDxUNBC is encouraging the community to put forward their ideas to talk in part of TEDxUNBC in 2019.
The theme in 2017 was "Dispelling Misconceptions."
