Prince George’s Trench Brewing and Distilling is a contender for a Small Business B.C. Award.

Out of nearly 600 businesses nominated from across the province, Trench Brewing has made it to the semi-finals.

Although the brewery just opened its doors in April 2018, it has already garnered enough community support and votes to make it as a top 10 semi-finalist for the Premier’s People’s Choice Award and is the only business in Prince George to be nominated.

“It’s pretty cool that our customers, our friends and family took the time to vote. I think that we have worked really hard over the last eight months to bring something new to Prince George and be really involved in the community. It’s nice to see that it is being recognized,” says co-owner Bailey Hoefels.

She operates Trench with her husband Jesse, partners Craig and Esther Schwenning, and brewer Paul Goncalves.

She says they have had an overwhelmingly positive response from the community since they’ve opened.

“We have a really nice clientele base of regulars who come down quite a bit; our events have been really well-received. The local businesses have supported us by putting us on tap so we have felt really accepted and supported by the community.”

Trench hosts events like Netflix and Chill’d Beer movie nights, trivia and yoga classes.

The winners of the 16th Annual Small Business B.C. Awards will receive a $1,500 cash prize and access to Small Business B.C. education resources, as well as bragging rights.

The top five finalists for each category will be announced in January 2019 and the awards ceremony will take place in February.
