Forward Cole Peardon, a veteran of 113 WHL games with the Red Deer Rebels and Prince Albert Raiders, was acquired by the Prince George Cougars on Jan. 9 just before the trade deadline. However, the team announced on Jan. 17 that Peardon won't be reporting to PG.

The Prince George Cougars' last acquisition before the WHL trade deadline won’t be joining the team after all.

The team announced on social media on Friday, Jan. 17 that forward Cole Peardon, acquired from the Red Deer Rebels for a fifth-round draft pick in 2026, “has decided not to report and will pursue other opportunities.”

The 18-year-old from Outlook, Sask. was the 13th overall pick in the 2021 draft for the Prince Albert Raiders.

He had 29 points in 133 WHL games for the Raiders and the Rebels between the 2022-23 and 2024-25 seasons.

Currently, the Cougars are tied for first in the BC Division with the Victoria Royals with 53 points, though the Cats have played one fewer game.

The Cougars’ next game is in Spokane on Friday, Jan. 17 to take on the Chiefs.
