UNBC Timberwolves continue to steal the spotlight even in the offseason away from the pitch.
The Prince George World Cup Indoor Soccer Tournament commenced this weekend at the Roll-A-Dome with Team South Korea prevailing as champions for a second straight year.
The team consisted of current and former UNBC athletes, including men’s division MVP Kensho Ando, who started in 15 games with the T-Wolves last season.
South Korea defeated Team India in the 2020 men’s championship final by a score of 4-3.
In the co-ed division, Seychelles blanked England 2-0 to claim the title.
UNBC alumnae Kylie Erb stole the show in earning tournament MVP for her category.
There were six teams competing in each division, totaling about 150 athletes for the fourth annual World Cup Indoor Soccer Tournament.
Individual award-winners are as follows:
Men's Division
- Top Goalkeeper = BJ Barth
- Top Goal Scorer = Abau Sisse and Matt Jubinville (Six each)
- Top Defenseman = Conrad Rowlands
Co-ed Division
- Top Goalkeeper = Joe Luong
- Top Goal Scorer = Cheona Edzerza (Seven)
- Top Defender = Mara McCleary
