It appears western Canada is recognizing the UNBC Timberwolves women's team, Prince George's own Madison Landry to be specific.
Landry was named the Women's Canada West First Star of the Week after her impressive performance this past weekend (Jan. 31 and Feb.1) in a sweep of the Regina Cougars, which also earned the team their fourth consecutive post-season birth.
She also sits third in points per game in the conference at 19.5, 0.1 per cent below teammate Maria Mongomo and 0.2 per cent of UFV star Taylor Claggett.
How do you like that? @UNBCATHLETICS @UNBCWomensBball @landry_madi named @CanadaWest First Star of the Week. She dropped 30 points,10 boards on Fri. night and 15 points Sat. along with 8 assists and 3 rebounds. #runasone #twolves #unbc #canwest #basketball #firststar pic.twitter.com/6drj4EeMsP

Her weekend didn't end there.
Landry also became the third Timberwolf in the school program to reach 1,100 points in her university career.
The Timberwolves also played with only six players in their last two games due to injuries and won their sixth game in a row after all was said and done against Regina.
Landry recorded 30 points, 10 rebounds, one steal and one assist in all 40 minutes of game time in the 73-67 win on Friday.
She'd follow that performance with 15 points, eight assists, three rebounds, two steals in a nailbiter 76-71 win.
Landry's first-star nod is the third week in a row a UNBC player was recognized.
Mongomo was named third star on Jan. 21 and the second on Jan. 28.
