Aggressive fire behaviour in the forests around the region has not been helped by weather conditions. Warm winds and a dry forest floor are fuelling a number of fires to the west and south of Prince George, on top of many throughout the province taxing firefighting resources.

"Due to recent lightning strikes throughout the Cariboo region, 13 new fires have ignited over the last 24 hours," said Cariboo Fire Centre spokeswoman Grace Pickell on Tuesday.
