A bullet in the leg sent a male in his twenties to hospital after a shooting at the 1700 block of 17th Avenue on Thursday night.

A bullet in the leg sent a male in his twenties to hospital after a shooting at the 1700 block of 17th Avenue on Thursday night.

RCMP members massed around Spruce and Tamarack Street and stretched to Queensway and Massey Drive after there were indications a vehicle was involved in the incident. Police also took a number of individuals into custody. The shooting was reported at around 10:50 p.m.

The victim and a number of witnesses are known to police, said Const. Lesley Smith.It was unclear what caused the shooting, she added.

The shooting is one of the first gun-related incidents of 2011 in Prince George.

"Maybe it`s time to move to Grand Prairie," said a passerby as he looked on police cars and flashing lights. "This is the worse I`ve seen Prince George in 30 years."According to reports, police followed tracks of a male and a female. A dog team was in the area
RCMP also expressed interest in a gray four-door Chevrolet from Quesnel at the scene.
