Prince George and northern B.C. travellers will soon be able to reach Calgary on a non-stop flight.

On April 27, WestJet will begin offering a daily flight to Calgary from Prince George Airport on a 119-seat Boeing 737-600 jet.

"Business travellers can now fly to Calgary and and return home the same day as this flight leaves YXS at 6 a.m. and returns 10:27 p.m., so it is geared toward the Prince George market," said John Gibson, president and CEO of the Prince George Airport Authority. "Business and leisure passengers now have more connection options for eastern Canada, the Prairies, the U.S. and sunspot destinations."

The daily flight will take 1.5 hours to fly east over the Canadian Rockies to Calgary where travellers can access flights to Toronto, Ottawa, Saskatoon, Palm Springs, New York, Las Vegas and Phoenix.

"This latest schedule reflects the varied needs of the many guests who choose WestJet," said John Weatherhill, WestJest's director of network and schedule planning. "Our goal is to make it even easier to do business affordably and efficiently with our airline. Leisure travellers asking for more frequency to WestJet's southern destinations will also see their options increase with today's announcement."
