UPDATED: Wildfire west of Prince George now under control

A wildfire west of Prince George that was spotted Wednesday, originally designated “out of control” by the B.C. Wildfire Service, is now under control.

The fire is burning near Isle Pierre along the Nechako River about 40 kilometres west of the city.

The service defines "under control" as a wildfire that is not projected to spread beyond the current perimeter.

The fire is currently at 0.009 hectares.

Meanwhile, a fire at Ancient Forest/Chun T'oh Whudujut Park, located 114 kilometres east of Prince George, continues to burn.s

As of Thursday it covered 39 hectares and was also classified as “out of control.”
