With spring just around the corner, Prince George city crews will be out and about cleaning up winter's mess.
The city says workers have already begun flushing road islands and sidewalks, sweeping gutters along major routes with larger sweeping to begin during the week of April 6, depending on the weather.
City officials add other work already underway, including:
- Gravel road grading
- Vegetation control
- Removing excess snow from areas prone to localized flooding and puddles
- Exposing and removing snow and ice from curb and gutter areas
- Road widening, ditch maintenance and exposing drainage catch basins in curb and gutter areas to help on-going snow melting
Later in the spring, road line painting will be started depending on sweeping operations, weather conditions, contractor availability and paving schedules.
The city is also reminding residents that winter parking restrictions are still in effect until April 15 in the following areas:
- Priority Ones and the Hospital District - On-street parking is prohibited from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Downtown - On-street parking is prohibited from midnight to 7 a.m.
- Residential Areas - On-street parking is prohibited from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Parking on the side of the street with odd house numbers is permitted from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. unless otherwise posted
