The Cowichan Valley Capitals scored two third-period goals and hung on to defeat the visiting Prince George Spruce Kings 4-3 in BC Hockey League action Saturday in Duncan.
Camden Bajzer broke a 2-2 with five minutes left in the period and Ben Portner added an empty-netter with 1:05 left, which turned out to be the winning goal.
The Spruce Kings made it close at the end when Mason Loewen scored with 18 seconds remaining, but they ran out of time.
Carter Streek and Gavin Giesbrecht also scored for the Caps. Brock Cummings and Kazumo Saskaki were the other Spruce Kings goalscorers.
Dylan Krick stopped 34 of 37 shots to back the Caps to their 14th win of the season. Colin Reay took loss in the Prince George nets, making 30 saves.
Cowichan (14-9-3-0) remained fourth on the Coastal Conference.
The Spruce Kings (8-14-2-1, ninth in Coastal), who won in Victoria 2-1 on Friday, will return to Kopar Memorial Arena for games next Friday and Saturday against the Langley Rivermen.
