The Prince George Spruce Kings have added 18-year-old forward Lucas Veilleux to their B.C. Hockey League roster.
Veilleux, a six-foot, 181-pound native of Ottawa, started the season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the Sherwood Park Crusaders and in five games he was held without a point.
He’s committed to Colgate University for next year.
“Lucas is a young player with good size who plays the game hard,” said Kings general manager Mike Hawes. “He has good offensive abilities and will contribute in all facets of the game. We have followed Lucas Closely for the past couple of seasons. We are thrilled that he's joining us.”
To free up a roster spot for Veilleux, the Spruce Kings traded 19-year-old forward Dylan Wegner to the Merritt Centennials for future considerations.
The native of Nashville, Tenn., committed to Michigan State for 2024, played two games with the Kings this season and went without a point.
The Spruce Kings’ next game is on Tuesday in Merritt, followed by a Wednesday road game against the defending BCHL-champion Penticton Vees. The three-game trip wraps up Friday in West Kelowna.
The next home games are Oct. 20-21 when the Kings host the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at Kopar Memorial Arena.
