Prince George RCMP have arrested a man wanted in connection with the kidnapping of a 50-year-old female hospital patient from UHNBC Sunday afternoon.
A red Honda hatchback believed to be used by the suspect, 44-year-old Lash Leroux, to take the woman from the hospital after he pushed her in a wheelchair out of the building against her will, was spotted by a general-duty RCMP officer parked outside a residence in the 1100 block of Irwin Street at about 7 p.m. Sunday.
RCMP spokesman, Cpl. Craig Douglass, said other officers were called to the scene and gained entry to the residence, where Leroux and the abducted woman were found inside. Leroux was arrested without incident and the woman was transported by ambulance back to UHNBC.
The police report said it is unknown whether the woman suffered any injuries as a result of the incident. Investigators recommending Leroux be held in custody while he awaits a court appearance on Monday. The RCMP investigation is ongoing.
Anybody with information about the abduction should contact RCMP at 250-561-3300.
