Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Taylor Bachrach is the new NDP transport critic.
Bachrach will now be the NDP party's lead voice in the House of Commons when it comes to transportation-related issues across Canada.
Bachrach is particularly keeping a close eye on Canada’s airlines and recent decisions to cut routes, particularly to smaller centres.
“Before we consider handing public money to big corporations, we need to ensure it will keep workers employed, not subsidize CEO bonuses," Bachrach said. "We also need to see airlines do the right thing by refunding the hundreds of thousands of passengers who had flights canceled and we need an assurance that regional routes will be maintained.”
The rookie MP will maintain his existing role as the NDP’s critic for infrastructure and communities.
