The Last Chapati: A Day in the Life of an Indian Woman event held Jan. 18 attracted 50 people and raised enough funds to send 25 Indian women to the 2011 Ek Duniya conference where they will be connected to network of 200 women and will find opportunities for the support they need.
"We also raised enough funds to purchase four treadle sewing machines for women's groups in India", said event organizer and co-founder of Ek Duniya, Savannah Westgarde, who is employed at the Canadian Red Cross in Prince George who can be contacted at 250-552-3057.
