The death toll continues to rise in Northern Health.
In an update this afternoon (Jan. 13), Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced 519 more cases throughout B.C., which sees the total climb to 59,072 since the pandemic hit one year ago.
Of the newly announced cases, Northern Health has added 45, which brings the recorded total to 2,651.

According to the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), four of B.C.'s 12 new deaths were recorded in the regional authority for a toll of 47. The provincial fatality rate is 1,031.
There are 4,810 people listed as active for COVID-19 throughout the province, 360 of whom are in hospital with 76 in critical care.
A total of 51,893 have been classified as fully recovered.

Northern Health's numbers include 16 people in critical care among 38 hospitalizations and 2,105 recoveries.
According to the latest COVID-19 data released by the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), Prince George and the northern interior region have the most cases since January of last year, as well as from Jan. 1 to 7, 2021.
The Geographic Distribution of COVID-19 by Health Service Delivery Area of Case Residence shows that from Jan. 1, 2020, to Jan. 7, 2021, the northern interior has recorded 1,239 cases.
The northwest region has recorded 561 while the northeast region has seen 578.
Through the first seven days of the new year, the northern interior recorded 156 cases while the northwest saw 111 and 72 in the northeast.
Meanwhile, the Geographic Distribution of COVID-19 by Local Health Area of Case Residence from Dec. 27, 2020, to Jan. 2, 2021 shows Prince George has seen 118 cases in that time frame.
The Nechako area has seen five while Quesnel posted just two; Peace River North recorded 81 with Peace River South adding 10.
Outbreaks continue at Jubilee Lodge in Prince George, UHNBC's Internal Medicine Unit and UHNBC's Rehab Unit.
To date, 14 people have died at Jubilee Lodge but there have been no newly diagnosed cases meaning there are 61 infections broken down among 48 residents and 13 staff members.
Northern Health has previously told PrinceGeorgeMatters that Jubliee Lodge has a capacity of 66 patients.
The Prince George long-term care home is one of four active outbreaks across the region.
Two COVID-19 outbreaks are in University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC), including the Internal Medicine Unit where one person has died among 31 total infections, broken down to 19 patients and 12 staff members.
The other is in the Rehabilitation Unit where three cases have been detected since Jan. 5.
