For the next 10 days, commuters along First Avenue may likely encounter traffic control crews.
Starting today (April 26), the City of Prince George is conducting water service maintenance, replacing old hydrants with new ones between Queensway and Lower Patricia Boulevard for better performance when needed.
This may cause some delays between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. when construction takes place along the stretch, which that also acts as Highway 16 east, between now and May 5 when the project is completed.
More specifically, its intersections with Queensway, Ontario Street, Ottawa Street, Kingston Street and Lower Patricia Boulevard.
"The operation will require some excavation at each site, and each site will be repaved at the end of the project," the city explains in a statement.
"The public [is] asked to follow all instructions from traffic control workers and signs to ensure the safety of pedestrian and vehicle traffic, as well as the construction crews."
Additionally, businesses in the area could see temporary water disruptions during maintenance from today until Wednesday (April 28).
