Prince George is getting improvements to some of its trails.

The city says nearly 550 metres of local trails will be getting a facelift thanks to funding from the Government of Canada’s federal Gas Tax Fund.

Starting tomorrow (June 25), crews will begin work to fix cracks and bumps and provide a smoother surface on two city trails:

  • UNBC Connector trail (between Ospika and Tyner Boulevard)
  • Cpl. Darren Fitzpatrick Bravery Park

The work is scheduled to be completed within two weeks, depending on weather conditions.

Additionally, also starting tomorrow, hikers can use a new refreshed, gravel trail to access Connaught Hill Park off Queensway.

Pedestrians, and those on two or four wheels, are asked to use alternate trail routes while the work is underway.

The federal gas tax fund is provided annually to support local infrastructure priorities.

Prince George is receiving nearly $1.7 million for 2020, which is supporting trails, sidewalks, renovations at Masich Place Stadium and Two Rivers Gallery, and park washroom refurbishments.
