The second-largest BC Cannabis Store in the province officially opened its doors in Prince George today (July 16).
The shop, located at 6111 Southridge Ave. within Westgate SmartCentre in College Heights, is the second government-run shop in the northern capital.
The first one was placed in the Pine Centre Mall and opened on April 29.
At the opening today, the 4,490 sq. ft. space was prepared with COVID-19 protocols in place, including no touching of cannabis on display and proper social distancing measures being enforced. There is also a hand sanitizing station upon entry.
The only BC Cannabis Store bigger than the College Heights location is in Parksville on Vancouver Island. That shop is 5,100 sq. ft.
"We are extremely pleased with the response we have received in Vanderhoof earlier this week and the Prince George market so far with our first store in the Pine Centre Mall," BC Liquor Distribution Branch Senior Communications Officer Gauri Kapoor says.
"We look forward to serving the community with our second Prince George location."
Back in February 2019, city council gave the go-ahead for the College Heights location.
