Prince George firefighters deal with another fire at Moccasin Flats

It was the second blaze at the encampment this week

Prince George firefighters returned to Moccasin Flats for the second time this week as flames tore into three of the encampment's shelters.

Police blocked off Ottawa Street and 5th Avenue as firefighters quickly extinguished the flames. One truck was used while another was kept on standby further west on 5th Avenue.

The fire service updated the situation in a press release Friday morning, reporting that the fire damaged two tiny homes and another building used as a warming space, about 300 square feet in size.

Another fire broke out on Monday, May 27, requiring a fire service response.
