Despite her team’s winless provincials’ performance, it’s now clear that Julia Kreitz turned the heads of some scouts and coaches at the tournament.
As a result, the Prince George Polars’ starting guard put pen to paper last week in committing to play at Okanagan College for the 2020-21 season.
The soon-to-be PGSS graduate averaged 20 points per game in her senior year and combined for a team-high 83 points at the 2020 B.C. AAAA Girls’ Championships in Langley.
Kreitz even took advantage of her last high school game on Feb. 28 in scoring 29 points, including five three-pointers.
Prince George went 0-4 at provincials.
Earlier in February, Kreitz also earned her second straight city all-star selection after losing to Duchess Park in the championship final.
She’s also one of the original players of Reign Basketball, a local all-girls development program and club team.
Okanagan College plays in the PACWEST Conference of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), one step down from UNBC, Canada West and U-Sports.
Last year, the Coyotes went 6-12 for a sixth-place regular-season finish.
Kreitz plans on studying dental hygiene at the Kelowna-based school.
