Prince George RCMP’s investigation of an early morning shooting led officers to an incident in Willow River this afternoon (Jan. 16), resulting in the arrests of 10 people.
On Thursday (Jan. 16) at about 1:30 a.m., Mounties received a report of two people that attended the hospital with injuries consistent with being shot.
Although the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, frontline officers attended the hospital and spoke to the victims.
Investigation led officers to believe the victims were shot by someone known to them on 3100-block, Westwood Drive in Prince George.
Police then secured the scene and gathered evidence.
Officers patrolled the suspect in a large SUV and then attempted to stop the vehicle, but they fled the area instead and because of the weather and road conditions, and to ensure public safety, officers decided to not pursue.
Through further investigation, RCMP again located the suspect’s vehicle parked outside a Willow River home, east of Prince George.
The Prince George RCMP's Police Dog Services Unit and the North District RCMP's Emergency Response Team were called out to assist.
Police say four women and six men were taken into custody without incident, but the suspect was not among them.
"Although, the motive of this attack has yet to be confirmed, investigators believe that the suspect and victims are known to each other and this is a targeted attack," reads an RCMP release.
The Prince George RCMP say they don't believe this incident is associated with the attempted murder that occurred on Tuesday (Jan. 14) in the South Fort George area.
