Snow expected all week

The sky has unloaded on Prince George and the whole region. The six-shooter forecast is a loaded gun all this week, every day shooting more snow at us. The white stuff doesn't let up for as far as the forecast can see. As of 7 p.m.

The sky has unloaded on Prince George and the whole region. The six-shooter forecast is a loaded gun all this week, every day shooting more snow at us. The white stuff doesn't let up for as far as the forecast can see.

As of 7 p.m. Sunday, only three of the previous 24 hours did not have at least some amount of snowfall. The final amount was still being analyzed by Environment Canada but anecdotal estimates put the downtown accumulation at 20 cms (8 inches) since Friday night.

Particularly discouraging for the coming week are the expected temperatures. When large amounts of snow fall it usually indicates a relatively warm trend, but Environment Canada is warning about frostbite as the mercury is expected to dip to minus-24 for lows and a chilly minus-16 or -17 for highs, now until the end of Wednesday.

Winds were also expected which would add cold effect on top of the standing-air temperatures.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday are expected to be warmer (about minus-7) during the day, but still there is a strong indication of snow each and every day.
