Last year, Kevin Grigg managed to complete only the first 10 kilometres of the YMCA Road Race half marathon. Back woes took him off the course much earlier than planned.
On Sunday morning, stride by stride, Grigg erased the disappointment of 2009. He was the overall winner of the 21-kilometre race, which started and finished at Masich Place Stadium. His time was one hour 14 minutes 11 seconds. Sharlene Jackson, with a clocking of 1:22:36 was the second-overall finisher and top female.
"I'm going to have a party this afternoon," the 29-year-old Grigg said with a laugh.
"I was kind of doing this as a training run/competition. In the fall, I'll probably do a marathon again."
