Put a little spice on the mustard for good measure.
The Big Guy Lake Kings bested one of their biggest rivals of the 2020 fastball season, the Frenchy’s Prowlers, to win their fourth and final tournament of the year, their second down in Ashcroft.
In fact, Prince George’s team went 4-0 to claim the weekend title and never allowed more than two runs in every contest.
Travis Kunz pitched the winning performance Sunday afternoon (Sept. 20), leading to the Kings’ 3-1 gold medal-clinching victory.
The win also featured an inside-the-park from Norm Linton, who got on his horse and sped around the bases in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The orange and black never finished outside the top three in their four trips to the interior this year, winning the COVID Cup in Kelowna before going second and third in Ashcroft and Chase respectively.
The Big Guy Lake Kings’ results from the weekend were as follows:
- 3-1 win over Frenchy’s Prowlers (Final)
- 5-2 win over Frenchy’s Prowlers
- 3-1 win over Westbank Cardinals
- 15-0 win over Wikenish Hawks (four innings)
They finished with a 2020-season record of 15-4.
