One person is in hospital for smoke inhalation due to a late afternoon garage fire in Prince George.

Before 6 p.m. on Monday, more than a dozen firefighters responded to a reported blaze that’s now left a garage, home, and travel trailer on the 100 block, Parsnip Crescent with an estimated $100,000 in damage.

There they found a detached garage completely involved, but crews were able to put out the fire by covering the exposure, saving the house and leaving as minimal damage as possible.

Two people were inside the home when the fire started; one is in hospital while the other was unharmed.

However, the garage and travel trailer were a total loss as a result of this incident.

No injuries were reported to fire crews and the cause is still under investigation.

This home is located in the Spruceland area of the city, north of 15th Avenue, one block from Ospika Boulevard and down the street from Spruceland Elementary.
