Two investigations are underway after three people were arrested last night (July 30) in Prince George.
One is for two women and one man after they were taken into custody east of the city for allegedly stealing a truck from Alberta, while the other is for the Prince George RCMP after the male suspect appeared to have suffered serious injuries during the arrest.
According to Mounties, a report was received before 7:30 p.m. on Thursday from a vehicle tracking company of a stolen truck with Alberta license plates has been mapping near the northern capital.
A short time later, another report was called in of a truck bearing the same plates of the stolen one was driving in the lot on 1400-block Old Cariboo Highway, where police ultimately found the three suspects.
Before making the arrest, they fled on foot and while the two women were located separately and not too far away, the man was found by a police dog.
When arriving at the detachment, it appeared the man had suffered serious injuries and is now in hospital.
This was notified to the Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO).
“IIO BC is investigating to determine whether police actions are linked to the man’s injuries,” a release reads.
“As the matter is now under investigation by the IIO BC, no further information will be released by police.”
Prince George RCMP are still continuing its investigation into the three suspects, which include alleged possession of a stolen vehicle, break and enter, driving while prohibited, possession of a controlled substance, and breach.
One woman was released without charge.
The other is appearing in court today (July 31), while the male suspect will make a court appearance at a later date.
