A 46-year-old man was arrested after fleeing on foot after being involved in a head-on collision in Prince George.
Cpl. Craig Douglass says just after midnight this morning (May 9), police received a report of a head-on collision that had happened on Highway 16 at Marleau Road.
When Mounties and other emergency services arrived, witness statements and evidence from the scene showed that a Chevrolet Impala sedan was driving on the wrong side of the highway and hit head-on with a full-size pick-up truck.
The driver of the Impala took off on foot into a wooded area while the police were called.
The suspect was found hiding in a delivery vehicle at a near-by retail mall.
Douglass says the suspect displayed signs of alcohol intoxication and bit one of the officers while in the process of his arrest.
The man was then taken to hospital to be assessed for injuries during the collision, was ultimately cleared by hospital staff and held by police in custody overnight.
The driver of the pick-up truck didn't suffer from any serious injuries.
Douglass adds the suspect, identified as a Prince George resident, was released on an Appearance Notice for Court on Aug. 26, 2020, pending charge approval from the BC Prosecution Service.
