The B.C. Hockey League is back in Quesnel.
But only for this weekend.
The third annual BCHL Road Show starts today for its first stop in Quesnel after previously being held in Kitimat in 2020 and Burns Lake in 2022.
The Cowichan Valley Capitals and Victoria Grizzlies will play two league games at West Fraser Arena, facing off Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at noon.
The event is being hosted by the BCHL and Lhatko Dene First Nation and the players will be visiting students today at École Red Bluff Lhtako Elementary School and Quesnel Junior Secondary School.
Seventeen-year NHL veteran Geoff Courtnall will be at the schools and will attend a traditional feast tonight.
Courtnall and players from both teams will also be on the ice at West Fraser Arena for a community skate and autograph session Saturday from 1-3 p.m.
The event will mark the first BCHL games played on Quesnel since the Millionaires moved to Chilliwack in May 2011. The Millionaires played in the BCHL for 15 seasons, starting in 1996 when they joined the league from the Rockey Mountain Junior Hockey League, along with the Prince George Spruce Kings.
The Spruce Kings are also in action this weekend at Kopar Memorial Arena, where they host the Cranbrook Bucks tonight (7 p.m.) and Surrey Eagles on Saturday (6 p.m.).
